Plainfield Community Outreach’s Annual Campaign to Fight Hunger!
Our 2017 annual Fight to End Hunger fundraising campaign will end on April 30 and we need your help to meet our $20,000 goal. Please consider making a generous donation to help us continue to feed hungry and needy men, women and children in neighborhoods throughout Plainfield.
So far in 2017, Grace’s Kitchen, a soup kitchen operated by Plainfield Community Outreach, the 501(c)3 organization of Grace Episcopal Church Plainfield, has served more than 2,000 meals to the men, women and children in the Plainfield area who depend on our feeding program the last five days of each month, a time when many needy people have depleted their financial resources. We need your help to continue to make sure that they have a hot meal during those days.
According to the Map the Meal Gap report released earlier this year, 11.4 percent of Union County residents is ‘food insecure,’ the term the USDA uses to indicate people who don’t have access to enough food to live healthy lives. Worse yet, the rate of child food insecurity is 16.8 percent. That’s why at Grace’s Kitchen, our commitment to providing hot, nutritious and delicious meals to the people who depend on us is also stronger than ever. But we need your help. Plainfield Community Outreach is asking you to donate as generously as your individual circumstances allows.
Despite recent cutbacks in federal aid and grant programs, Grace’s Kitchen manages to serve about 160 meals each day it is open. We do that with help from people like you. In addition to food, we also provide backpacks to children, toiletries, coats and other warm clothing in the winter months, and other amenities to make our guests’ lives a little easier.
We are fortunate that we have friends like you, who are so willing to help. Please open your heart and give as generously as you can to Grace’s Kitchen’s 2017 Fight to End Hunger.
Please make your donation as soon as you can. If your employer has a Matching Gifts program, we are more than happy to complete any paper work necessary to receive matching funds. The Plainfield Community Outreach Board of Directors, Grace’s Kitchen Project Director Marvin Daniels, our devoted volunteers and the staff and guests of Grace’s Kitchen thank you heartily for making this program possible.
